Gambarino is a condensed serif font designed for headlines, released by the Indian Type Foundry and created by Théo Guillard. With a single weight, it offers a fresh, modern twist on the classic Garalde style.
The font features delicate, fine serifs and teardrop terminals on letters like ‘a’, ‘f’, and ‘y’. The capital letters have a distinctive top-heavy design, with larger bowls and counterforms at the top than at the bottom, visible in characters like ‘B’, ‘E’, ‘F’, ‘P’, and ‘R’. While this feature is less prominent in the lowercase, the ‘a’ is thoughtfully designed to match the capitals.
Gambarino’s lowercase stands out with its tall x-height and very short descenders, which are much smaller than the ascenders. The letter ‘g’ is particularly clever, using a balanced design for its two bowls. Overall, Gambarino is a striking and stylish font, perfect for bold and distinctive headlines.
